I like how you can see the sky through the top window of the silo. Did you go inside there?

---

No. I am always very cautious when working around these old buildings, especially when they have been actively falling. As it is, I think I would have a hard time getting into it as it is surrounded by piles of rotten woord.

Yeah after I asked that question, I noticed that there are some large bricks just kind of teetering on the edge of the top of the silo. Good that you are cautious.

I like these shots of the window, this one most. You can see the reflections of the clouds in the sky. I probably would have picked this up and took it home, and use it in my yard somewhere, or figure out a way to make it work as a picture frame.

---

If this was out in the middle of nowhere and not "bleonging" to anyone, I might have but it is actually on someone's property and right by the highway. Some of these old places have wonderful old boards that would make great shelves, et.c but I am always mindful that someone might object and if everyone did it, I wouldn't have these terrific old places to photograph.
=================================
Yeah I guess you are right. Best just to get them from an old 2nd hand store somewhere.

I remember photo similar like this one, just in B&W, from some contest. Almost sure it was version of this one - I really liked it.

What you said about 'shopping' - interesting. And reminds me of encylopeadic v creative writing on hootoo.

My sister's a bit of a photo purist. I said to her sometimes the shopped version is closer to how something felt than the pure photo. Take focus, in reality the brain edits out all sorts of stuff. In fact I think you need to develop a way of deliberately looking before taking a photo to avoid distractions being in it. When it comes to the how, I don't see how it can matter whether it's in developer tanks or in the PC. (Your environmental point aside, which I hadn't thought of.)

Someone said in a comment in one of the competitions that a photo had stirred them - I think that's what it's about.

I got photoshop elements just 4 weeks ago, I'm kicking myself for waiting so long and straightening horizens all over the place!

I'm wondering if my Mum reminds you of your Mom because of her expression on finding herself spending a considerable amount of time looking at derelict stuff? Quarries in my case...

I haven't read 'The Road'. There's a story in that photo, that's for sure.

I'm still learning ropes on fotki - it's not exactly designed for conversation.

If you have read "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy, this series of photos would hit home....

They could use this for one of the sets.

Colours are fun. But it's effective giving an eerie light too.

Makes you want to know the story behind it.

Not sure why, but this particular photo felt like being there.
